Flower Hill · 花の丘
The big seasonal flower field. In autumn, the park lists cosmos across the 10,000㎡ hill — one of the clearest must-sees for our October dates.
Uminonakamichi is huge, so the plan is not to walk every corner. Rent bikes, choose a few areas, stop for food and keep Marine World optional.
The park is much bigger than it looks on a map. The nicest way for us is to rent bikes, ride between the flower areas and Animal Forest, then stop for whichever café or restaurant fits naturally.
These are the areas I would actually save. We do not need to complete all of them — cycling lets us decide as we go.

Worth checking for the rounded kochia, which shifts from green towards red through October, plus pink muhly grass and other autumn planting.
A more designed garden rather than one giant field. The autumn display mixes dahlias, cosmos, celosia, foliage and ornamental grasses.
A relaxed animal area with around 50 species, including capybaras, prairie dogs and squirrel monkeys. Easy to combine with the flower areas.
This is more transport than attraction, but I would make it part of the experience. The cycling course runs about 12 km and makes the huge park much easier to explore.
Leave some empty time for just cycling, sitting on the grass and enjoying the open space. We can also bring simple food or snacks and have a relaxed picnic here. This should not become a checklist-only day.
There are enough places to eat inside that we do not need to leave the park for lunch. I would keep Play Cafe and Wonder Shuttle as our two main choices.
The more café-like option, with terrace seating near the flower areas. Good for homemade chicken curry, coffee and something sweet.
The bigger restaurant if we want a proper sit-down meal. Options include goma-saba rice bowl, ramen, curry and pasta.
Useful if we are already at Animal Forest and only want something small rather than a full meal.
A more relaxed café option near the Light and Wind Ground if we happen to cycle that way. If we do not want another café stop, we can simply bring food and have a picnic in the open lawn areas instead.
I would not make the aquarium compulsory. If we still have energy — or if the weather turns bad — it is right beside the park and works as an easy second half of the day.
The aquarium focuses on the seas around Kyushu and has regular exhibits and shows. In October, normal opening hours are currently listed as 09:30–17:30, with final entry one hour before closing.
If the flowers and cycling are enough for us, just skip it. I think the park itself should remain the main purpose of this day.
Official site ↗Take JR towards Kashii, transfer to the Kashii Line and continue to Uminonakamichi Station. The park entrance is right by the station.
October hours: 09:30–17:30
Adult admission: ¥450
Nice bonus: 4 October 2026 is listed as a free-admission day.
Because we're travelling 4–12 October, I would choose this day based on the best weather rather than fixing it now.
